Schenna – the sunny panoramic village above Merano

Schenna is a historic village with a character all its own. Set between palm trees and mountain peaks, it is home to castles, churches, museums and small cultural treasures that reflect the rich diversity of South Tyrol.

We especially recommend a guided visit to Schenna Castle – on occasion even led by the lord of the castle himself. In the village centre, a large floral heart has become a much-loved meeting point and a charming backdrop for a holiday photograph.

What do we appreciate most about Schenna? Its people — and the distinctive balance of Mediterranean ease, Alpine scenery, culture and tradition. The village enjoys a peaceful, sun-filled setting, while both town life and mountain landscapes remain close at hand.

Merano –
a spa town close by

Merano lies just 7 km away and lends itself perfectly to an unhurried excursion or a relaxed afternoon. Stroll beneath the historic arcades, follow the well-known Tappeiner Promenade, pause for a cappuccino in one of the cafés or browse independent boutiques and local markets. For those seeking quiet relaxation, the Merano Thermal Baths offer a welcome retreat.

In winter, the town takes on a special atmosphere. The Christmas market and softly illuminated streets create a sense of warmth and seasonal charm. Wander through the lanes, enjoy a glass of mulled wine and take in the festive surroundings.

With the South Tyrol Guest Pass, travel to Merano – and even onwards to Bolzano – is straightforward and stress-free.
